How we use cookies and similar storage.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Similar technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage) work the same way. They allow sites to remember settings and improve your experience.

2. Cookies we use

We use two categories: strictly necessary (always on) and analytics (off until you click Accept).

Strictly necessary

• eaais_cookie_consent — records your banner choice so we don't show it again. Stored in localStorage. Retention: 12 months.
• eaais_a11y_motion, eaais_a11y_contrast, eaais_a11y_text — remember your accessibility preferences on this device. Stored in localStorage. Retention: until you clear browser data.

Analytics (opt-in)

• _ga — Google Analytics 4 client identifier used to distinguish unique visitors. First-party cookie on .eastangliaaiservices.co.uk. Retention: 13 months.
• _ga_F6TTH896D0 — Google Analytics 4 session state for measurement ID G-F6TTH896D0. First-party cookie. Retention: 13 months.
• _clck — Microsoft Clarity identifier used to persist visitor behaviour (heatmaps, session recordings) across pageviews. First-party cookie. Retention: 12 months.
• _clsk — Microsoft Clarity session identifier used to group multiple pageviews into a single session recording. First-party cookie. Retention: 1 day.

Purpose: measuring aggregate audience and traffic patterns (page views, referrers, device class) and understanding on-page behaviour (scrolling, clicks, session recordings) so we can improve the site. IP addresses are anonymised. The data is processed by Google LLC and Microsoft Corporation on our behalf under UK GDPR; see the Google Privacy Policy and Microsoft Clarity Terms & Privacy. No advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking is enabled.

Google Preferred Source button (opt-in)

• NID — set by Google when the "Add as a preferred source" button loads, so it can recognise your signed-in Google account and let you mark this site as a preferred source in Google Search and AI Overviews. Third-party cookie on google.com. Retention: set and controlled by Google, not us.

Purpose: lets you add eastangliaaiservices.co.uk as a preferred source in your Google Search settings. The button and its script (news.google.com/swg/js/v1/publisher.js) are provided by Google LLC; see the Google Privacy Policy.

3. Third-party cookies

Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and the Google Preferred Source button are the only third-party services that set cookies on this site, and only after you click Accept on the cookie banner. All are disabled by default. If you click Reject Non-Essential, none of these cookies are set, any existing _ga / _ga_* / _clck / _clsk cookies are cleared, and the Preferred Source button script is not loaded (its NID cookie is set by Google on their own domain, so it cannot be cleared by this site). We do not use advertising, remarketing or social-network cookies.

4. Managing your choice

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the panel below, or by clicking Cookie Settings in the footer on any page. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings — guidance is available at ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/online.

5. ARIA chatbot

ARIA runs entirely in your browser as a local, rule-based assistant. Conversation content stays in your browser's memory for that visit only — it is not saved anywhere and is cleared when you reload or leave the page. No chat content is sent to our servers, to Anthropic, or to any other third party; see our Privacy Policy for detail.
